The Bergamasco are alert and interested in what goes on around them, curious and ready to pick up on any unusual situation where they react vocally and only in extreme cases with aggression, Like all sheepdogs they are a bit shy, but they know how to distinguish and recognize friends from enemies, if there is a stranger at the door or gate they won’t let them in and if the person insists, they know how to persuade them to stop. If we arrive home with friends or acquaintances we should not lock the dog away to let them in, they are with us and that to the dog means let them pass and straight away they are ready to be made a fuss of.
